GPS and App Dead on 2020 e-tron

Man, my wife's 2020 e-tron was smooth sailing until last week. Now, the Audi app and GPS went belly-up. Took it to the service center, and they dropped the bomb - the SOS unit is toast and wants a fat check to fix it. And get this, even if they replace stuff, no guarantees it'll sort things out. Talk about a total buzzkill! Our fancy car isn't feeling so fancy anymore. Anybody know how to fix this mess?

Afaik, this was confirmed as an SOS recall Service Action 90T2. The good news is that Audi offers a free fix for this issue.
