I'm planning a long road trip in my wife's new Q4 after Thanksgiving. The dealership is about 500 miles away, so I'll definitely be stopping a few times to charge. I'm curious about the best highway speed to get the maximum range. Should I stick to a lower speed or can I push it a bit? Also, is it okay to charge the battery to 100% for this one trip, or should I stop at 80% to be kinder to the battery?

That sounds like an exciting trip! I'm still learning about EVs and range management, but from what I've read, driving at a moderate speed can help maximize range—usually around the speed limit or slightly below is ideal. Charging to 100% appears to be sufficient for long trips, but charging to 80% on a regular basis may improve battery health in the long run. If you're already stopping to charge, it might not be as big a deal this time. Anyone else have any tips or experiences managing range on long trips? I'd love to know what works best!

Yes, EVs are more efficient at lower speeds. I remember that I had to reach a destination a few weeks ago, and my car was almost off (I am exaggerating, of course) and I called a friend and asked him almost the same thing. He told me that driving at 60-65mph on the highway is ideal for optimizing range. Higher speed will consume more energy and reduce range.
As for the battery... please be kind to it, haha. Many say that it is recommended to charge an EV to 80-90% to prolong battery life (I think this is better to say, than 'may improve battery health in the long run' @nanami2006 ). Of course, if you charge it full-on exceptions, it is nothing wrong.
