No Heat Pump in Q4

I still find it strange that Q4s dont have a heat pump due to supply chain issues. With fewer than 2,000 sold in the US last year and considering the long delivery times, no heat pump, no tax credit, and Tesla's price drops, it seems 2024 sales won't be much better. What do you think?
 
Some folks just aren’t into Tesla and totally prefer the sweet features that Audi rolls out - stuff that other EVs just can’t compete with. Now, about the tax credit situation: my dealership said Audi might be able to slap that $7,500 credit on right at the point of sale for leases, thanks to some new IRS updates. But honestly, I’m scratching my head a bit because it looks like the IRS is mostly talking about commercial leases here.

And then there’s the whole heat pump thing - or, well, the lack of one. That’s a real drag, especially if you’re living somewhere cold, since it just doesn’t do its thing as well when the air is frigid. We’ll see how all this shakes out!

I’m not a fan of Teslas either!

Btw, about the heat pump, I get that when it’s super cold, those heat pumps struggle more than usual. So does that mean a resistive heater might actually hold its own better in those frigid spots, you think?

When it gets cold, that resistive heater will keep you warm, but it can really eat into your range compared to a heat pump. If your car's just using resistive heating, you might lose about 30% efficiency. Plus, lithium batteries already lose range in the cold, so it can hit you even harder.

Appreciate it @Jayjay82! Has Audi owned up to this issue and given their specs a little refresh for the range, you think?

Hmmmmm Good point, Audi does have some unique features that really stand out......that’s interesting about the potential tax credit for leases, I’ll have to ask my dealer about that...and yeah, the heat pump issue is definitely a downside for colder climates. Hopefully, they can address these things soon.
