E-tron gassy smell and expensive SX6 replacement

Our 2019 E-tron's been smelling like gas lately. Dealer says it's a faulty SX6 in the HV system and needs replacing for $6k+! Here's the thing: battery's still under warranty, but they're saying this isn't covered. Doesn't a gassy smell seem more like a fuel cell or coolant leak issue anyway? No warning lights either, just the smell. Anyone else had this problem? Should the warranty cover it, or is this a sneaky dealer tactic?

that’s a weird situation. I’ve heard of a few cases where the SX6 wasn’t covered right away, but after contacting Audi corporate, they changed their tune. Have you tried calling Audi Care directly? Also, that gas smell might be a coolant leak, wouldn’t hurt to check under the hood carefully or have a second dealership take a look.
