There was a battery software update as part of a warranty recall, and I only found out because my car was due for service. The dealer tried to do the update but couldn’t finish it because of a faulty battery cell. Since they can’t replace the cell, they referred me to another dealer an hour away. The update takes a while, so they’ll need my car for two days. Now I’m wondering how long the battery cell has been bad.

It’s tough to pin down how long the battery cell's been acting up without a deeper look, but if the dealer couldn't finish the software update because of it, that’s a solid hint it’s been a problem for a bit. If you're worried, definitely chat with the second dealer and see what they can dig up during the replacement!

True! It’s tricky to figure out how long the battery’s been acting wonky without digging a bit deeper. It would be best to check out your service records or hit up the first dealer. They might have spotted something during previous check-ups!

The ultimate answer probably boils down to how often they were keeping tabs on that battery. Like, were they checking in on it regularly, or just letting it be? You know what I mean? Sometimes, a little TLC goes a long way!

Have you noticed any issues with your battery's performance before this update dropped?

It’s concerning that the update couldn’t finish. I’ll make sure to ask the second dealer for more info on how long the battery cell’s been an issue. I hope they can figure it out during the replacement, cause I am getting tired man, I really am!

Yupppp, I’ll definitely check my service records and reach out to the first dealer to see if they noticed anything earlier. I really need to know how long this has been going on.

Right? A little battery TLC never hurt anyone. Maybe it needed a bit more love and attention, not just sitting there, chilling out in the dark. I’ll be sure to ask if it got enough checkups, I might even bring it flowers next time. :D

Honestly, it’s been running fine as far as I could tell, no warning signs before the update tried to happen. I guess the battery was just quietly plotting its rebellion!
