My wife’s on a mission to slap a dash cam with both front and rear cameras into her 2022 e-tron, and she's roped me into a full DIY job. I've always kept it simple with cigarette lighter-powered setups before. Now, I'm checking out more integrated options and wondering how straightforward it is to wire from the main unit to the rear camera in the Audi—kinda like how I did it in my Kia (just sneaking it under the roof lining). Also, is hooking up to the 12v fusebox a breeze, or is there a handy power spot near the rearview mirror? And Audi's OEM dash cams got me curious for their MMI integration—can you actually access footage and tweak settings on the car's screens? Plus, do they throw in nifty features like sentry mode? Any tips on these would be awesome!

You can power it from the fuse box but tapping into the rearview mirror power is often a tidier solution just make sure you get the voltage right. Audi's own dash cams do connect to the car's screen letting you view and change settings they usually don't have features like sentry mode which many aftermarket dash cams offer. If you're going the aftermarket route make sure the cables are long enough and always use an add-a-fuse to protect your car's electrical system.
